Important Customs Update for Saudi Arabia

Effective November 3rd, 2012, the Saudi Customs Authority will require that all Customs Declaration forms (bayan) indicate the payment method for imported goods arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Payments can be cash, remittance, bank credit, or any other method. The Customs Declaration form needs to also indicate the Bank name, payment date and reference number.

All supporting documents related to payments need to be attached to the Customs Declaration forms.

Failure to comply with this regulation may delay clearing incoming goods into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This comes as part of the Saudi Customs Authority efforts to adhere with anti-money-laundering global standards.
